Rateen National School
Rateen National School was built in 1873. The building takes its name from the townland of Rateen in which it is located. It was a single room stone building with a playground surrounded by a stone wall. Among the teachers were Master Quinn and Mrs Mulligan. The remains can be recognised on the left hand side of the road to Roslea.
It closed in 1935 after the opening of Ballagh School, which has in turn closed on the opening of the new primary School in Donagh.
