On the 1835 O.S. Rossbrick is shown as having two schools. The school which is furthest in the lane on the site of the present Higgins home lasted the longer. Around 1830 the teacher was a Mick Morris and then there was a Richard Crudden who lived in Loughgare around 1860. He emigrated to America but died soon after.
